How we keep Outta What? a place where real cooks can share real food.
Zero tolerance
There is no place on Outta What? for objectionable content or abusive users. We remove it and we remove the accounts that post it. This applies to every surface of the app: posts, comments, profiles, contest entries, messages and advertising creative.
What is not allowed
Harassment, bullying, threats and targeted pile-ons. Hate speech or attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation. Nudity and sexual content, and any sexual content involving minors. Graphic violence, gore, or content that glorifies self-harm or eating disorders. Spam, scams, malware and repeated unauthorised promotion. Impersonation, and content that infringes someone else's copyright or trademarks.
Food-specific expectations
Post food you actually made, and credit the recipe or idea when it came from someone else. Be honest with ingredients, because someone may cook from your post tonight. Do not give unsafe food-handling or allergy advice, market alcohol to minors, or make health claims you cannot support.
Reporting
Every post, comment, profile and contest entry has a Report action. Pick the reason that fits and add a note if it helps. The content is hidden from your view straight away and the report goes to our moderation team with the content and the account attached. Reporters are not identified to the person reported, and deliberately false reports are themselves a violation.
Blocking
You can block any member from their profile. Blocking is mutual in effect: their posts, comments, entries and profile disappear from your view, and yours disappear from theirs, and neither of you can follow or interact with the other. Manage your block list any time in Settings.
How moderation decisions are made
A person reviews every report. We look at the content, any context, and the account's history, then take the least severe action that keeps the community safe: no action, a warning, hiding a post or comment, declining a contest entry, suspending a profile, or ending an account. Every action is recorded in our audit log with the moderator, the reason and the time.
Appeals
If your content was hidden or your account was suspended and you believe that was a mistake, reply to the notice you received or email support@outtawhat.com from the address on the account. A different reviewer looks again and answers within 30 days. Serious violations — especially content that endangers children — are not appealable and are reported to the authorities where the law requires.
