Privacy Policy
What Outta What? collects, why we collect it, and the control you keep over it.
Information you give us
When you create an account we receive your email address, display name and username. You may add a profile photo, bio, location and website, and you add the content you publish — photos, videos, captions, recipes, ingredients, comments, contest entries, messages and support requests. If you buy a membership or advertising package, our payment provider collects the billing details.
Information collected automatically
We record the technical information needed to run and secure the app: device and browser type, approximate region derived from your connection, pages and features you open, and actions such as likes, saves, follows and reports. This is used in aggregate to keep the service working and to detect abuse.
Payments
Paid features are processed by our payment provider through Base44 Payments (Wix Payments). Card numbers and bank details are entered on the payment provider's own checkout page and are never received or stored by Outta What?. We keep only the transaction reference, product, amount, currency, status and dates needed for fulfilment, refunds, accounting and tax.
How we use information
To operate your account and show your content to the community you joined; to power search, ingredient discovery and translation; to run contests, memberships and advertising; to moderate content and enforce our Terms and Community Guidelines; to send service notices and, if you opt in, optional team messages; to prevent fraud and abuse; and to meet legal, tax and accounting obligations.
Sharing with service providers
We share what is necessary with the vendors who run the app on our behalf: hosting and database infrastructure, media storage, email delivery, payment processing, translation and AI-assisted cooking suggestions, and analytics. They act on our instructions and may not use your information for their own marketing. We do not sell personal information, and we disclose data to authorities only where the law requires it or where needed to protect people from harm.
Content moderation
Reports you file, the reports filed about your content, and the decisions our moderators make are stored so that we can act consistently and can answer appeals. Moderators can see the reported content and the account it belongs to. Reporters are not identified to the person reported.
Retention and the deletion window
Your profile, posts, comments, likes, saves, follows, contest records and messages are deleted when you delete your account. Records we must keep for tax, payment reconciliation or legal claims — purchases, donations, advertising and membership records — are retained without the details we no longer need. Deletion completes within 30 days, and backups containing your content are overwritten on their normal cycle.
Your choices and rights
You can edit your profile and notification settings, make your profile private, delete individual posts, or delete your whole account from Account Management. Depending on where you live you may also ask for a copy of your information, correction of it, or restriction of certain processing. Email us and we will respond within the period the law allows.
Children
Outta What? is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn that an account belongs to a child under 13 it is closed and the associated information is deleted. Where local law sets a higher digital age of consent, that higher age applies.
Security
We use access controls, scoped credentials and encrypted transport, and we limit who can see moderation and financial records. No service can promise perfect security, so please choose a strong password and tell us immediately if you suspect your account has been compromised.
International transfers
Our providers may store and process information in countries other than yours. Where information leaves your region we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, and we keep those safeguards in place for as long as we hold the information.
Changes
We will post any change to this policy on this page, update the version date, and tell you in the app when a change materially affects your rights. Continuing to use Outta What? after a change means you accept the updated policy.
