Deleting your account
You can delete your account yourself from Account Management → Delete account. You will be asked to confirm your username. The action is immediate: your profile, posts, comments, likes, saves, follows, contest registrations and entries, badges, saved recipes, inbox messages and block records are removed.
What we must keep
Financial records — purchases, membership records, advertising records and donation records — are retained for tax, payment reconciliation and legal claims, with personal detail removed. The deletion itself is recorded in our audit log. Registration records retained for accounting are stripped of names and contact details.
How long deletion takes
Deletion completes within 30 days. Backup copies are overwritten on their normal cycle rather than immediately, so a residual copy may exist briefly in a backup that is not used for any other purpose.
Deleting individual content
You can edit or delete any post from its page, delete a comment, and remove saved items at any time. Making your profile private removes it from public view; it does not delete your records.
Your rights over your information
Depending on where you live you may ask for a copy of your information, correction of it, restriction of certain processing, or deletion. Send the request from the email address on the account to support@outtawhat.com and we will respond within the period the law allows. We may need to verify that the request comes from the account holder.
Organizations and businesses
An organization or business administrator can close its own record through the platform's approval process. Records that must be retained for financial reconciliation are kept without unnecessary personal detail, and donated funds already received remain the organization's responsibility to account for.
Children
If an account belongs to a child under 13, it is closed and the associated information is deleted. Where local law sets a higher digital age of consent, that higher age applies.
